Browser
is a Client program (software) that is used to look at various kinds of Internet resources. All browsers work in a slightly different way and one may not display the pages correctly if the code was developed exclusively for another browser. Today two main browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape.
Microsoft Internet Explorer was developed by the Microsoft Corporation. Since mid-1990s it is being incorporated into Windows as a part of the operating system.
As for the Netscape (Mosaic) it was developed by the Netscape founders and it is being distributed for free. Netscape's browser is available with Linux, Windows and Macintosh PCs.
Microsoft Internet explorer and Netscape mainly work in the same way. The main difference is that Netscape has much better security. There are also"bookmarks", used in Netscape instead of "favorites'' for storing Web-pages addresses.
So How Does Browser Work?
When you type in a URL or click a link, your browser sends its request to the remote server specified in URL. The web server sends its reply back, which is usually in form of a web page. The browser receives an answer and shows it to you, sometimes using some other programs to display the data in cases the browser cannot do it itself.
